Overview

In information systems, a tag is a non-hierarchical keyword or term assigned to a piece of information (such as an Internet bookmark, digital image, or computer file). This kind of metadata helps describe an item and allows it to be found again by browsing or searching.

- Adopted from Wikipedia

Tags are one of important and easy ways to highlight necessary information about your charts and songs to players and other related people. A certain rule set on creating tags may help authors to efficiently provide these knowledge, and make the process of both creating and using these tags (for searching) easier.

This article will guide you through the way to crate tags, and provide you with some suggestion regrading tag creation.

How to create

When you edit a page, either an article or a song / chart, scroll down to the bottom of the page. You may see a blank with description "Category (Optional): ". Just fill in your desired tags into this blank, and hit the save button.

Tag creation guidelines

Articles

For articles, it would be good to consider tags as index of the contents. A good example is that, if you are writing an article on the mapping technique on DJ mode, put "DJ", "mapping", "guide" on the tags. If your article is for a certain purpose, for example, some championship or a specified group, you should put the purpose (the name of the championship or the group) itself on the tags.

Songs

Songs have more specified guidelines compared to articles. When you create a song, you should consider putting things listed below into the tags.

- Artist. The artist is the people who participated in the making of the song and make significant contribution to it. In most cases people who composed music, background animation and other related things should fall into this category.

- Genre. The genre is the type of the music. Some examples of genres are "Classic", "Game music", "Pop". Please take a look at genre guide for more detailed information.

- Origin. If this song has been adopted in some other works, including but are not limited to movies, CD, anime and games, they are likely to have their origin. You should check other related songs to find if there are existing tags that are very similar to the tags you want to create, to avoid trouble when two songs have different tags representing the same origin.

Charts

Charts are many to one related to songs, so repeating information presented in the songs' tags is not necessary. However, some specified information should be put on the charts' tags.

- Creator. The Creator is the people who make the chart. When multiple people are completing a chart together, they should all be on the tags.

- Mode. The mode (DJ, step, etc.)for the chart should be labeled as tags, for searching easiness.

Others

You may add more tags which you consider would provide needed information to the players and to the peer-reviewer. However, don't add anything unrelated to the article/song/chart to the tags for any reason - it spoils the reliability of the tags.
