How do I change my profile picture?
To change your profile picture, click the Sign in option on the top right of the Malody wesbite. A prompt will pop up in the middle of the screen. Enter your login credentials. Then, tap on your username. From there, you'll need to tap the pencil icon located on the right side of the screen. Finally, tap change avatar. Do not upload NSFW profile pictures or there will be consequences.
How do I add someone as a friend?
To add a friend, tap on a person's profile picture/avatar that's visible in the chat. This will open their profile. On the top right, there's a heart. Tap on it and once it turns red, you have added that person as a friend.
How do I download charts? Why are there no charts to download when searching for them?
To download a chart/s, tap the shopping cart on the left side of the song selection screen. Tap any cover art. At the bottom of the screen, chart difficulties will appear. Tap any difficulties and they will download. Only the most recent stable charts will show up in the store.
If there are no charts to download, either the chart/s don't exist yet because no one has charted said song, they have been deleted or you must search with the song ID because the chart/s are beta/alpha. The song ID is on the bottom half of the screen once tapping on a cover image. Search that specific id. Keep note that charts cost gold. 5 gold for alpha charts, 10 gold for beta charts and 20 gold for stable/ranked charts.
Why do some charts not load into the game, but other people have them?
The server updated so that the server records the highest chart level from scores with Judge B and 90+ accuracy for each player. The store displays harder charts only if the recorded level is larger than 15.
Why are my downloads stuck at a certain percent?
The Malody servers in general have been bad. To circumvent this, you can use a VPN. In most cases, it works. There should be better servers once Malody 5.0 releases.
An example for a VPN you can use is ProtonVPN. It is recommended to use the free one if you don't want to pay.
How do I import charts and what chart formats are supported?
On the song selection screen, on the top left, there is a plus sign that has the word "import" underneath. Click it. This will open up a file manager. Navigate to the folder where the charts you want to import are. Click to select the charts you want to import and tap the select box at the bottom.
If you are on MacOs or Windows, you can simply drag and drop charts while Malody is open.
All supported chart formats in Malody:
- .osz (for Key/Catch/Taiko)
- .bms/.bme/.bml/.pms (for Key/DJ)
- .sm (for Key/Step)
- .tja (for Taiko)
- .mc (Malody format for all modes in Malody)
Do note that if you import Osu! standard charts, they will be converted to catch. Make sure the Osu! charts you import are made specifically for catch, mania (key) or taiko.
When trying to play a chart, I get kicked out to the song selection screen. What can I do?
The first thing you can do is disable skins one by one if you have enabled them. Sometimes, incorrect values in skins can cause Malody to not play charts. If you are on Android, go to the Malody settings. Under the "Audio" section, enable OpenSL. Restart Malody and play a chart. If that does not work, uninstall the Play Store version of Malody. Search for Malody client download. Click the first link. Scroll down until you see a mirror for Windows and Android. This will redirect you to Google Drive. Download the apk. Once the Malody apk is downloaded, install it.
I keep getting delays when playing Malody. What can I do?
If you are on Android, go to the Malody settings. Under the "Audio" section, enable OpenSL. Restart Malody and play a chart. If that does not work, make sure you are not using wireless headphones/earbuds as they can add additional input lag when playing.
Why do my charts keep getting deleted?
Are you using any apps that clean your phone's storage? If yes, delete those apps. They can delete Malody related files because the cleaners cannot tell what is junk and what isn't junk. They are snake oil and can cause more harm than good. It's better to clean your storage manually. If no, then check if your phone has a built in cleaning solution. Go to your phone's settings and look for an option that cleans your phone's storage. Disable it.

How do I create my own chart?
On the song selection screen, look to your left. There will be a plus sign with the word "import" underneath it. Click it. Two options will appear: "Create new chart" and "Import charts." Click on "create new chart." Navigate to the folder the song you want to chart is. You will be asked, "Use this song to create new chart?" with the song title underneath the prompt. Confirm the song title is correct and click ok. You will then have to choose which mode you want to create a chart for. Choose the mode.
How do I upload my charts?
In order to upload one chart, you need to play stable Malody charts for 10 minutes. You can get up to 12 chart slots by playing Malody stable charts for a total of 120 minutes/2 hours. Playing Malody alpha/beta/offline charts or imported chart from other rhythm games will not contribute to your playtime. Make sure your chart is a minimum of 60 seconds/1 minute otherwise it will not upload. Once you have met this condition, go to edit your chart. On the right side of the editor, there is a column of buttons. Tap the bottom most button, then tap upload. Your chart will be uploaded as an alpha chart.
How do I stable my own chart?
You cannot stable your own chart. You must submit your chart for review so a publisher can check it for you. You will most likely have to edit your chart until it meet's the publisher's requirements.
How do I delete a chart difficulty?
To delete a chart difficulty, tap the song the chart is associated with. Scroll to the chart difficulty you want to delete. On the top left, click the pencil icon that has the word "edit" underneath it. You will get several options. Click delete chart.
How do I delete a song from my device?
To delete a song, tap the song you want to delete On the top left, tap the pencil icon that has the word "edit" underneath it. You will get several options. To delete the song and all charts associated with it, tap delete song and confirm it.
How do I access the mods menu?
To access the mods menu, tap on a chart. On the top right hand corner, there is two icons. Tap the hexagon icon with the word “MOD” underneath it.
What mods affect my score?
The only mods that affect your score are dash, rush, slow and constant. Dash and rush increase your score while slow and constant decrease your score.
How do I reset my key binds?
Go to the Malody settings and scroll down until you see this option, "Reset game key config". This will reset your key binds across all modes. Play any chart and you will be prompted to set up your keys. You must do this individually for each mode.
How do I earn gold?
You can earn gold several ways:
- 1. Complete quests. To view your quests, tap the third button on the left of the song selection screen.
- 2. The total amount of gold awarded with respect to a map is limited and is related to your highest accuracy. For example, your first try with 80% accuracy will bring you 80 coins and your second try with 90% accuracy will bring you an additional 10 coins.
- 3. You can earn gold if you have charts and skins that make it to stable/ranked status or if people donate gold to charts you have stabled. You can only earn gold from STABLE Malody charts. Malody beta/alpha/offline or imported charts from other rhythm games, which count as offline charts, will not earn you gold.
I keep getting A/B/C/D/E rank along with a number 1/2/3/4/5. What does that mean?
The letters are not your rank and the numbers are your rank. The letters correspond to the judge/how strict the timing is and the numbers correspond to how well you did in a chart.
5: FC (Full Combo)/100%/all bests
4: FC and above 95%
3: Under 95% however you can get an M3 even if you miss or get an FC above 95%
2: Under 90%
1: Under 80%
0: Under 70%
Amateur (A)
Multiplier: 0.78x
It is recommended for most new players. It is not hard to get Best or Cool even if you failed to hit accurately as the judgement is 40% easier.
Beginner (B)
Multiplier: 0.85x
This is for beginners with the judgement being 20% easier.
Climber (C)
Multiplier: 1.00x
This is for intermediate players. No bonus nor penalty will be added to the score.
Dancer (D)
Multiplier: 1.10x
This is for advanced players with judgement being 30% harder.
Expert (E)
Multiplier: 1.20x
This difficulty pushes players to their limit. This makes playing Malody 60% more difficult.
What is graphics offset, hit offset and chart offset?
- Graphics offset: Offsets how early or late the song plays. This option can be found in the Malody settings under the gameplay section.
- Hit offset: Offsets how early or late your taps/hits register. This option can be found in the Malody settings under the gameplay section.
- Chart offset: Offsets how early or late notes show up. This option can be found in the pause menu.
What's the best offset?
There is no best offset. There are many factors that come into play such as different devices, different input lag, different refresh rates, reaction times ect that can affect how one plays.
How do I download skins?
There are two methods to download skins:
1. Go to the Malody settings and scroll down until you see the "Graphics" section. In the graphics section, there will be a setting called "Current skin." Tap the box that has the word "Default" or if you have already enabled a skin, it will say "Custom" instead. This is where you go to change your skins. On the top right, tap the cloud icon and you will be shown skins that can be downloaded. Only the most recent stable skins will be shown. Do note that some skins cost gold and others are free. Gold only applies to stable skins.
2. On the top of the Malody website, there are several options. One option has a wand with the word "Skin" next to it. Click it. This will take you to the skins page. You will be able to use filters to determine what platform (PC, mobile) and screen orientation (landscape, portrait), what game mode and whether the skins you are looking for are stable, beta or all skins for your specified filters. Unlike stable skins, beta skins will be free even if there is a specified amount of gold.
To import skins on:
- Android
Using a file explorer, navigate to the downloads folder. If your skin is in the .msz format, copy and paste it to /data/Malody/skin. If your skin is in the .zip format, extract it. Copy and paste the extracted folder to /data/Malody/skin.
!!!IMPORTANT!!! If the skin fails to load in Malody, then the skin folder has a duplicate folder with the skin elements inside it. For example, /data/Malody/skin/Project Catch/Project Catch. You will need to copy and paste this particular skin folder back to /data/Malody/skin.
- iOS: Using Safari, download a skin. After the download is complete, tap the download button on the top right of Safari. Tap the share button on the top right. If the skin you downloaded is in the .msz format, share it to Malody mobile and it should import successfully.
- Windows: If the skin you downloaded is in the .msz format, you can simply drag and drop the skin into the Malody window. If the skin is in the .zip format, you can rename the extension to .msz and then drag and drop it into the Malody window.
